Instructions for uploading images

1. You need to be logged in.
2. Then an "upload file" link appears under "toolbox" in the left hand column.
3. If you have image reduction software and know how to use it (usually built in to image programs), please reduce the file size.
4. Be sure to give your image a unique name so that it will not be overwritten by someone else uploading a similarly named file.
5. Once you have uploaded the image, you will see a link to the image. Click on that.
6. That will take you to where you can see the image. Now "edit" that page.
   • provide a description of the image,
   • note the source of the image (if it is a thumbnail, you can say, "thumbnail images are allowed by copyright law"),
   • and giving a link(s) to the primary page(s) where it is featured.
7. Copy the name of the file from your browser (everything after http://peswiki.com/index.php/)
8. Go to the page where you wish to insert the image.
9. Place the name or path of the file between brackets where you wish it to insert the image on the page: [[image:name_of_the_image.jpg]]. There are some fancy things you can do within the brackets to make the image go to the right or left, or to have a box around it with a description (see below).
10. Now preview and save down that page, and you're done.

Include Description

When I upload images, I try to include the bullet format I'm preparing anyway. That way there is a memo about the relevant directory, and the news source of the image. I'm pulling the bullet together anyway, so I might as well post the info in the "description" box when I upload the image that goes along with it. That way, when people click on the image, they are not just taken to a page showing the image only, but they also see the bullet that goes along with it. -- SilverThunder 18:37, 10 Feb 2008 (EST)
