Keefer Zeller's Report of Acetone' Effect on Mileage and Performance
| Table of contents |
Reports
I drive a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XS 3.5 Liter V6. I drive over 100 miles a day to and from work (52.4 miles each way). I heard about using acetone in gasoline at work and I did some research online to see about detrimental effects and could not find any of any consequence. I have used it on 3 fill ups now and the increase in MPG has been nothing short of fantastic. I have not noticed any problems or detrimental effects on my vehicle. I have now started using it on my wife's 2004 Explorer and the first tankful has had a similar effect on it as well.
Summary
- 2004 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XS 3.5 V6
- 2 oz/10 gal
- 331 miles before
- 438 miles after
- 904 miles tested
- some power gains, smoother idle
Individual Reports
September 1, 2005
I started with 2oz Acetone/10 gals. I refilled the tank after about 315 miles with 17.4 gallons. I have continued to fill up between 300 and 350 miles each time and the MPG has increased. I have increased my MPG from 17.5 to 22.5 at this point. I will continue to use the same acetone/gas mixture unless I have any detrimental effects.
