Rotation achieved!
I assembled my wheel tonight (11/06/2004) & using a makeshift stand out of two boards was able to get the SG motor to work, estimated at about 197 rpm! The wheel did not rotate right away, I had to adjust the transistor base resistor to to a lower value, it was about 220 ohms when it started working.
Enough for one night, I saw the motor turn (and quite gracefully I might add!) Next I will begin building a permanent stand for the wheel & build out the circuit on a circuit board.
