U.S. locations of Fracking development, superimposed on the river system.

A directory of information about hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, and its ecological impact on the planet, poisoning water and air.

This has to be one of the most astonishing instances of high-level criminality in undoing laws protecting air and water supplies, to allow the development of fracking, which destroys the water supplies.

While the burning of natural gas might be a relatively "clean" compared to other fossil fuels, the method of "fracking" to extract it turns it into the worst offender when it comes to polluting the planet and irreversibly destroying the water supplies of the planet.

As a result, no longer should we view natural gas as "clean." It has become the "most filthy" of all energy supplies.

Dick Cheney was at the lead in changing the laws to allow for unbridled fracking operations in the U.S.

This criminality must be stopped. This is horrific beyond measure.

People, animals and the ecosystem are dying because of this obscene practice that must stop immediately. Those involved in perpetrating it must be brought to justice.

New York Court Affirms Towns' Powers to Ban Fracking - In a decision that could set a national precedent for how local governments can regulate gas drilling, a New York state court yesterday ruled for the first time that towns have the right to ban drilling despite a state regulation asserting they cannot. 5.6 Fracking Earthquake Hits Oklahoma - Driven by profit at the expense of prudence, oil and gas operations around the world are jeopardizing the planet's ecosystem in some very far-reaching ways that could reach thousands of years in their impact. Last night's record-setting earthquake is the latest hit. How much will we let these criminals get away with? (PESN and BeforeItsNews; November 6, 2011)

GasLand -- Fracking Documentary: HD Full (video) - We've covered this before, but if you've not seen this documentary yet, you need to. The corporations say there is nothing wrong with fracking, and the water in surrounding, pre-existing wells is safe; but they won't drink samples of water from effected wells, which include pretty much all the wells near such operations. Cheney is at the head of the criminality. This is one of the most disturbing things imaginable. (YouTube; January 23, 2012)

The Horrors of Fracking (video) - Must-see 21-minute excerpt of Josh Fox' "Gasland" documentary gives a glimpse into the horrific world people face who live in vicinity of certain fracking operations, with water that catches fire; severe headaches and neurotoxicity; hair falling out; animal, fish and human deaths. Fracking imposes the most severe environmental degradation of any energy type; and is replete with criminal cover-ups of its dangers. (YouTube; February 4, 2011)

Fracking for Natural Gas and Oil May Have Broken the Law - More than 25 conservation and community organizations from across the United States asked the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a congressional committee to investigate whether natural gas and oil companies broke the law by injecting diesel fuel underground in a controversial process known as hydraulic fracturing. F*&#ing Gas Fracking: How the Oil Industry Poisons Our Ground Water and Air - An HBO documentary, Gasland, coming June 21, addresses fracking, which involves blasting water, sand and chemicals, many of them toxic, into underground rock to extract oil or gas; made exempt from environmental laws -- through pressure from Cheney, Halliburton, and other oil and drilling companies -- creating a siege of hydrocarbons spewing from deep below ground, polluting water and air.
