A model of Western Hydro's Vertical Axis Turbine undergoing initial flow tests. FreeFlow 69 is collaborating with Western Hydro and Rubicon Marine.

FreeFlow 69 is part of a team of engineers in Cornwall who have made a breakthrough with the development of an ocean turbine, called the Osprey, that they claim could solve the commercial viability of tidal power. The Osprey turbine can be used to create electricity offshore at sea or in tidal rivers and inland waterways.

In addition to this ocean turbine design, FreeFlow 69 is also involved in wave power, wind integration, and river hydro.

      • Limpet Project (http://www.hi-spec-uk.com/page14.htm) - The Limpet Project is a collaborative concept between FreeFlow 69, Rubicon Marine and Western Hydro. It will use Rubicon Marine's patented sub-sea structure, being developed on the Nautilus Project, and Western Hydro's Vertical Axis Turbines.
      • Ocean Hydro Electricity Generator Plant (http://www.hi-spec-uk.com/page2.htm) - The plant uses tidal energy to create electricity 24 hours a day, making this a unique project. 24 hour power is produced by using both the kinetic energy in tidal flow and the potential energy created by tidal height changes.
