New Energy Congress
  • Top 100 Technologies - Page created to serve as a dynamic listing by the New Energy Congress to rank the top 100 clean energy technologies based on ten established criteria including renewability, environmental impact, affordability, credibility, reliability, safety. Since April, 2006, the New Energy Congress has been systematically voting on the following energy technologies, reviewing a new technology every 2-4 days, and weighing it against the criteria they established. The reports of their assessments are published monthly, and are reflected in the sequence shown below. A prioritized listing by the New Energy Congress of the very best energy technologies according to ten criteria, including: renewable, environmentally safe, affordable, credible, reliable, developed, safe, etc.
  • Steorn Free Energy Challenge - In process of researching more efficient micro generators, Irish company developed a system that produced more energy than it consumes. Issued a challenge to the world scientific community today to validate and publish test results.

September 1, 2006

  • Sorganol Biofuel - Sorganol® is ethanol made from sweet sorghum. Sweet Sorghum may be the best alternative fuel crop to grow in the continental United States for the production of ethanol. It converts sunlight directly into sugars, eliminating the costly starch to sugar process. These sugars are converted into ethanol at nearly zero fossil fuel inputs.

  • Down Draft Energy Tower - Opposite the idea of a solar tower, a down-draft chimney is proposed that utilizes a heat pump at the top of the tower to extract energy and cool air. The cold, heavy air falls and creates a downward pressure to drive electrical generation turbines, using the ground as a solar collector. The design greatly reduces costs and land requirements.

Featured headlines

  • Plasma-assisted engines run more efficiently, cleaner - Voltage applied to the atomized fuel stream prior to combustion generates a plasma in the fuel that breaks down the long chains of hydrocarbons into smaller molecules, allowing a more complete burn. (PESN; Aug. 31, 2006)
  • Off-shore 5M Wind Turbine Premier - REpower Systems' five-megawatt turbine, the largest ever off-shore, is piled to the seabed at a record depth of 44 meters. (PESN; Aug. 30, 2006)
  • Steorn to Push Tipping Point for Magnet Motor Technology - Company to select jury of 12 hard-core skeptics with high academic qualifications to review existing data, then design testing procedure, test, and publish the results; to solidify the credentials of a radical, new energy approach. (PESN; Aug. 21, 2006)

PESWiki News

  • Electromagnetic > Raser Technologies - Symetron™ AC induction motor technology achieves high torque without permanent magnets. A few simple changes to conventional motors yield significant increases in power, performance and efficiency. With up to 3 times the power density, a lower cost per kilowatt, Symetron™ is ideal for use in electric & hybrid vehicles, industrial applications and power generation. (Sept. 1, 2006)

  • Concentrated Solar Power > Pyron Solar - Developed in cooperation with Boeing-Spectrolab a low-profile floating system with short-focal-length lenses concentrating direct sunlight by 400X onto photovoltaic cells. These advanced multi-junction cells produce 800 times more electricity than conventional non-concentrating cells the same size. High efficiency and low material requirements make the new system competitive with conventional power plants. (Aug. 31, 2006)

  • Fuel Cells > General Hydrogen - General Hydrogen is field-testing complete hydrogen fuel cell solutions for electrically powered industrial vehicles. Products include Hydricity® Pack fuel cell systems to replace lead acid batteries in industrial vehicles, making them run longer and faster than trucks with batteries and refuel in a fraction of the time. (Aug. 30, 2006)

  • Revetec cam-drive engine - The Revetec cam-drive engine uses a pair of counter-rotating scissor cams instead of a crankshaft. The result is three times more torque than a conventional engine, and an overall engine efficiency up to 50% more.

  • Wave buoys - Convert the ocean or sea wave energy into electricity. The flotation portion undulates with the waves, while a shaft fixed to the sea floor provides the counter-active force from which energy can be generated.
