From PESWiki
Tangarie Alternative Power presents the Greenpower Utility System (GUS™) line of vertical axis wind turbines. The GUS wind turbine has specific design considerations that make it a versatile product and environmentally friendly.
The Greenpower Utility System line of vertical axis wind turbines allegedly produces up to 50% more electricity on an annual basis, generates electricity in winds as low as 4 mph (1.5 m/s) and continues to generate power in wind speeds up to 130 mph (60m/s). It withstands extreme weather such as frost, ice, sand, humidity; and is low-noise.

Costs
The complete solar/wind/streetlight/pole package (made by another company altogether) costs about $7,000, not including installation.
Advantages
After extensive research and development, TAP has taken a proven design and made significant improvements. GUS units produce more power, require little to no maintenance and weigh less than the competition. They accomplished all of this while also reducing the cost. The result is a turbine that is uniquely suited to a broad array of applications.
- Low cut-in speed of 1.5 to 2 M/S (3.4 to 4.5 mph, varies with size of unit)
- Low maintenance – 30 year bearings that do not require lubrication
- Wildlife friendly – Wildlife perceives it as a solid object so is less likely to fly into it
- Quite operation – produces virtually no noise, silent against background noise
- Vertical axis – unaffected by wind direction or turbulence
- Aesthetically unobtrusive – lends itself to architecturally pleasing integration
- High wind operation – 60 mph, 90 mph, and 135mph models available
- Do not collect and shed ice
- Produces as much as 50% more energy annually than a prop type of equal swept area
- Optional coloring, logos, or rotor shape may be set to customer specification
Applications
- Commercial
- Residential
Profiles
Company: Tangarie Alternative Power, LLC
TAP systems improve power quality and reliability. They configure energy storage options from emergency power for critical loads to grid independent power. Many have asked us where the name Tangarie (Tan gâr ee) comes from. Tangarie is their family name and their company was founded in tribute to Private First Class Joseph Tangarie, their brother, who was killed in the TET Offensive during the Viet Nam war, and by extension to all of our servicemen and women who risk their lives to protect our country everyday.
Tangarie Energy is a comprehensive renewable energy services company providing LEED™ certifiable, advanced, high efficiency, grid connected or stand-alone power/cogeneration equipment.
