Solenoid Engine
A solenoid engine is an engine that runs on electricity rather than by combustion. The linear motion is created by a solenoid with two sets of windings for the push and the pull stroke. A simple switch sets the timing for when each winding is pushing or pulling. The linear motion is then transfered to the crank shaft like a normal combustion engine or with a yoke like in a Bourke Engine. There are several advantages with a solenoid engine over a combustion engine; First there are far less moving parts that can break or may need replacing, no emissions are created, can be easily changed to support multiple pistons, and furthermore it does not depend on foreign oil.
